Louise A. (Garrison) Thomas, 93, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at Woodland Manor in Springfield.
She was born on March 3, 1928, the fifth of seven children born to Charles and Sarah (Chandler) Garrison. Louise was united in marriage to Roy Thomas on November 16, 1946; he passed away in 1989, 32 years ago. They resided in Springfield until 1976 at which time they moved to Cedar Creek, Missouri, on Bull Shoals Lake. Up until Roy’s death, they enjoyed many years of travel together, spending the winters in Texas and summers in Colorado, where they worked at campgrounds while staying in their motorhome.
Louise was a 1946 graduate of Springfield (now Central) High School. She worked at Southwestern Bell from the day of high school graduation until March of 1980 when she retired. She was a hard-working, loving lady. She was a friend to all. She loved her God, family, and church. Many, many times, she kept her granddaughter, Bridget, and great-grandchildren, Collin and Addison (and dogs Dezi and Amos), to help the family out. She was a member of Crossway Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; parents, Charles and Sarah Garrison; three sisters, Loretta Robinson, Irene Morton, and Mickie Atwood; a brother, Charles (“Bud”) Garrison; three brothers-in-law, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Agee and her husband, Lester (“Dink”); granddaughter, Bridget Myers and her husband, Jason; and great-grandchildren, Collin and Addison Myers; brothers, Bob Garrison and Bill Garrison; two sisters-in-law, Claudia Garrison and Kristie Garrison; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service, under the arrangement of Greenlawn North Funeral Home, will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123. Condolences may be made online at http://www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com.
As a family, we will miss the rock of our family, but we know she and Dad are rejoicing with God in Heaven. We wish to thank the staff at Woodland Manor and the hospice staff at Compassus (in Springfield) for their loving care during the last two years.
