Lowell Duane Johnson, 87, resident of The Cambridge Independent Living in Springfield, MO passed away late December 14, 2014. Hospitalized and suffering from complications due to heart attack and stroke the Lord called him home while surrounded by his children, grandchildren and sister.
Lowell was born in Marshfield, MO,at the home of his parents, J.F. Johnson and Georgia (Shannon) Johnson, August 13, 1927. At age 14, Lowell attended Kemper Military Academy, graduating in 1945. He served in the army until the end of World War II. He worked as a farmer for many years.
He is survived by his children: Darrell Johnson and wife Beth, Danville, Kentucky: Leonard Johnson and wife Willie, Humansville, MO: Ellen Replogle and husband Mark, Phillipsburg, MO; Beth Ryan and husband, Rick, Springfield, MO; grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Scott, Jeffrey, Heather and Sarah; sister, Audrey Wiser, Springfield, MO; long-time companion, Sally Harrison, Springfield, MO.
Visitation for Lowell D. Johnson will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenlawn Funeral Home East, Springfield, MO, Thursday, December 18, 2014. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 noon, then a ceremony to honor his military service will be held at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
A quiet, gentle, kind man, Lowell inspired family and friends with examples of caring, thoughtfulness and strong work ethic.
