Mabel Maxine Hicks, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 2015 surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 16, 1934 in Nobel, MO to Jesse and Nettie Warrick. She was the youngest of 10 children.
She was married to Jack Hicks on June 26, 1959 and celebrated 32 years together prior to his death in 1991. They had 4 children and made it a priority to teach them about the Lord. She was a homemaker and was compassionate and loving to all that knew her. She was an active member of Kingsway Freewill Baptist Church for over 40 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Hicks; her parents, Jesse and Nettie Warrick; 5 brothers, and 2 sisters. She is survived by her children, Marvin Hicks and wife Michelle, Marsha Peck, Randall Hicks and wife Kim, and Jeanetta Caldwell and husband Joe; 8 Grandchilden, Jessie, and husband JP, Laura, Maegan, Celeste, Josh, Emily, Leah, and Ali; 2 sisters, Joy Draper and husband Seth, and Betty Butts; several nieces and nephews; and her little dog Max.
Visitation will be at Greenlawn North, Thursday, 6-8 pm, and the services, Friday at 1 pm.
Mabel had epilepsy which greatly affected her way of life. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern IL, Camp ROEHR, 140 Iowa Ave, Belleville, IL 62220 to help children with epilepsy be able to attend summer camp.
