Charles Hopkins wrote a song in the early 60’s, entitled, “The Face of an Angel”. His angel, Madlin Bessie (Bolin) Hopkins has joined him in heaven, passing away peacefully October 14, 2015 at the age of 82.
Madlin is preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Oscar Bolin, along with ten brothers and sisters, and her husband Charles (Hoppy) Hopkins. Madlin is survived by her sons Gary Hopkins and wife Rhonda, Stephen Hopkins and wife Lori, and her daughter Linda Davis (recent widow of Earnie Davis), seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and an abundance of loving friends and relatives.
Madlin’s passion was people, whether it was at family gatherings at her place or where she worked. She was happiest bringing everyone together and being surrounded by loved ones, always the perfect host.
As a Navy wife, her life took her around the world, to include a tea with the Queen of England. Hoppy insisted his Missouri girl wear shoes to the event. Very patriotic, she served many positions in military wives clubs organizations. Her support and pride was above reproach.
Visitation is scheduled Friday, 16 October at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E Seminole Ave from 6 – 8 pm, with Saturday services at Immanuel Lutheran Church 2756 S Blackman Road at 11 am, with burial at White Chapel Cemetery, 5234 W State Highway EE immediately following.
