MARGARET MARSH PARISH
Margaret Marsh Parish was born September 14, 1925, in New Windsor, Maryland, and departed this life on Thursday, June 25, 2009, in Branson, Missouri. at the age of 83.
Survivors include: one son, Frank Theodore (Ted) Parish and his wife Beulah of Marriotsville, Maryland; two daughters, Margaret (Meg) Parish Pyron and her husband, Greg; and Drusilla (Dru) Parish Vaughan and her husband, Earl, all of Branson.
Other survivors include six grandsons: Neil Parish of New Windsor, MD; Erik Parish of Marriotsville, MD; Kevin Hadel of White Marsh, MD; Chris Pyron of Tulsa, OK; Dalton and Preston Vaughan of Branson, MO; one granddaughter, Margaret (Megan) Pyron Rice of Broken Arrow, OK; one sister-in-law, Joan Brengle Marsh of Leonardtown, MD, one special cousin, The Rev. Donald R. Barton of Springfield, MO, and numerous great grandchildren, neices, nephews, relatives and friends.
Ms. Parish was the first of four children born to Dr. James T. Marsh and his wife, Margaret. Her parents and three siblings, Eleanor, Jack, and Jim all preceeded her in death.
Ms. Parish’s love for education led her to a teaching career that spanned some 16 years in the Carroll County, Maryland, school district. She taught 6th grade and science.
Upon retirement from teaching, she returned to school to become a nurse, graduating third in her class. When she moved from Maryland to Branson, Missouri, she continued working as a home healthcare nurse, visiting clients all around the lakes area. After a second retirement, she continued her first love of education through private tutoring of young people who needed extra attention, and by serving as one of Branson’s Adult Basic Education teachers, helping many students achieve their General Education Diplomas.
Ms. Parish was a long-time member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and in 2006, was recongized for 40 years of service to that organization. While in Maryland, she was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron of Chapter #94 in Westminster, Maryland, in 1979. She also served as Gaurdian of Bethel #32 of the International Order of Job’s Daughters.
She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Branson, ever ready to help with projects for youngsters like Vacation Bible School. She also enjoyed her time at Presbyterian Women’s meetings, her Sunday School class, and for a number of years, saw to the preparation of activity materials to keep little ones appropriately focused during church services.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 29, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Branson with The Rev. Munn E. Hinds officiating. Cremation under the direction of the Greenlawn Funeral Home of Branson. Burial will be at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Arbor Day Foundation, the Women’s Crisis Center of Taney County, or to the Daughters of the American Revolution scholarship fund.
