Marie Ferm, 84, of Springfield, went to her eternal home with Jesus, Friday, November 27, 2020.
Marie was born August 8, 1936 in Sevnica, Slovenia. She worked as a nurse in Slovenia before moving to the United States, she retired from St. John’s Hospital. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Marie loved to bake, her homemade rolls and bread were always a hit. She loved the Lord with all her heart, and she loved everyone. She will always be remembered for always having a smile.
Marie is survived by one daughter, Karen Renfro; grandson, Terry Williams; three great- grandchildren Isaiah Sperry, Bailey Williams, and Harper Williams; one brother, Vilijem Skalar, Maribor, Slovenia; six sisters, Jozefa Skalar, Basil Switzerland, Ljudmila Skalar, Freiburg, Germany, Mihaela Medvodje, Slovenia, Zvonka Umek, Koper, Slovenia, Mira Dolinar, Skofja Loka, Slovenia, and Pavla Futrell, Atlanta, GA; and numerous relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ivan Skalar and Ljudmila Zupancic, and one brother, John Skalar.
A visitation for Marie will be Friday, December 11, 2020 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with a private burial at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Marie’s name to the Salvation Army.
