Marilyn W. Rekus, age 70, of Springfield, MO, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at home with her family by her side. She was born February 7, 1944, in Seminole, OK, to Henry and Mildred (Collier) Wallis. She was united in marriage on April 2, 1965 to James Rekus in Paducah, KY. Marilyn graduated from Draughon’s Business College in Paducah, KY. She was a member of Northside Christian Church, where she was very active. Marilyn enjoyed sewing and crafting with her friends. The greatest love of Marilyn’s life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Carlisle and Mildred Juanita Wallis. She is survived by her loving husband of forty-nine years, James Rekus, Springfield, MO; three sons, Bradley A. Rekus and wife Shelley , Fayetteville, AR, Brian D. Rekus and wife Sarah, Springfield, MO, and Brandon P. Rekus and wife Lajoie, Rolla, MO; ten grandchildren, Eli, Connor, Preston, Kinley, Parker, Carson, Claire, Elena, Daisy, and Jenna; two brothers Owen Wallis of Paducah, KY and Robert Wallis of Paducah, KY; two sisters, Katherine Lyles of Paducah, KY and Donna Thompson of Chuckey, TN; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 15, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Ed Holt officiating. Visitation will be held from 9-10 a.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Disabled American Veterans. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
