Marjorie (“Marge”) Cantel was ushered into the loving arms of the Lord Jesus on Wednesday August 3, 2016 at the age of 91. She was born in Beloit, WI, to Gordon and Ruby Champion. Mrs. Cantel has been a resident of Maranatha Village in Springfield, MO., for the past 12 years.
Mrs. Cantel graduated high school in Ishpeming, MI, and attended North Central University (formerly North Central Bible College) in Minneapolis, MN. She married Milton Holmberg in 1946 in Muskegon, MI. Marge has been a faithful follower of the Lord Jesus Christ since early childhood and has always been active in the church where her husband, the Rev. Francis Cantel, was the pastor in Old Bridge, NJ.
Marjorie is survived by her sister Joy Matthews of Conneaut, OH., her daughter Judith (Holmberg) Fagerland (husband Dale) of Springfield, MO; son Greg Cantel (wife Liza) of Old Bridge, NJ; daughter Sarita (Cantel) Fahey of Shirley, MA; 5 grandchildren (Rev. Chad Fagerland of Harrisonville, MO, Lt. Col. Eric Fagerland of Murrieta, CA, Sara Fahey of Shirley, MA, Britney and Dylan Cantel of Old Bridge, NJ) and 4 great granddaughters.
Preceding Marjorie in death are her parents Gordon and Ruby Champion and brother Richard (“Dick”) Champion of Springfield, MO, husband Milton Holmberg and husband Rev. Francis Cantel.
Visitation for Mrs. Cantel will be at Maranatha Chapel 233 E. Norton Rd. Springfield, MO, beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Monday August 8, 2016 followed by the memorial service beginning at 2:00 p.m. The ceremony will be officiated by Marjorie’s grandson, the Rev. Chad Fagerland. Immediately following the funeral service there will be a brief graveside committal, open to all, at Greenlawn Cemetery North, 3506 North National Ave. Springfield, MO. 65803
