Mary Ellen Gitthens age 61,of Springfield, Mo. passed away Wednesday, August 8, 2018, at Cox Medical Center South, after a long illness. She was born in Kingston, New York, on October 22, 1956 to Rev. David and Ellen (Flanagan) Stanton . She was a homemaker and a member of Central Assembly Of God Church. She enjoyed music and had a music degree from Evangel College. She enjoyed crocheting and playing video games. She was very active at her church she played French Horn, sang in the church choir and played Hand Bells, when her health allowed,
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Gitthens. She is survived by her husband, Billy Gitthens, two daughters: Sharon and Billie Jo Gitthens, a son, Jonathan Gitthens, ; a grandson, Josiah Gitthens, a sister; Esther Huyck, and her husband Eric; and a brother, David Stanton, and his wife, Candace.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 13, 2018, in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial following, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
