Mary “Jill” (Smithson) Waxler, age 74, Springfield, passed away Thursday, January 26th, 2023 at Glendale Gardens .
Jill was born on March 3, 1948 in Phoenix, AZ, the daughter of Jackson and Doris Smithson. She was a graduate of Parkview High School. She was united in marriage to Jimmie Waxler on December 10, 2005, in Las Vegas, NV, at the Viva Las Vegas Chapel. Jill and her husband Jim worked many years as over the road truck drivers, transporting military freight. She recently worked for the Springfield Public Schools Transportation Department as a Bus Driver and Attendant. Jill was a very talented interior decorator. She enjoyed knitting, and was an avid reader. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Jill gave a good fight for this world, all the while she wanted to be with Jesus, she is now resting in the arms of her Savior.
Survivors include her daughter, Sabrina Seig (Jeff); 5 grandchilden; 5 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Debbie Edwards, Robin Hillenburg / Harris (John) , and Amy Hart (Ethan) one brother, Darryl Presley ( Beth); and a host of family and friends.
Jill was preceded in death by her husband Jim Waxler, parents Jackson Smithson and Doris (Smithson) Presley; and two brothers, Ronald Smithson and David Presley.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm pm, Friday, February 3, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. A celebration of Jill’s life will be held Saturday, February 4th, 2023, at 1:00pm in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with burial to follow at Brookline Cemetery, Brookline, MO. Memorial contributions may be made in Jill’s name to Ozark Food Harvest or C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue. The family would like to thank the staff at Amedysis, Glendale Gardens and Regional Hospice for all of their care and support.
