Later she resided in Gardner, KS; with her husband Chris Hendrix. After the divorce, she moved back to Kansas City where she worked at Sprint for 10 years. She moved again to Springfield, MO where she and Tyler had met Roy Carson, and his son Michael Carson in 2008, then moved to Marshfield, MO with Roy and spent her final years with him. Her latest career was with AT&T in Springfield, MO and had worked there just shy of 11 years.
Melissa was a devoted Mother and an adventurous soul throughout her entire life. She had a sharp mind and an unbreakable spirit, as was seen in many ways, such as being an avid ghost hunter for Southwest Ghost Finders. She enjoyed hiking in her younger years and had traveled much of her life. Some of these places are including but not limited to the most haunted places like Edinburg Manor, Pike’s Peak in Colorado, and Sandal’s resort in Jamaica. She was indeed a kindred spirit with nature. Her favorite hobby was going on floating trips, as she had traversed many of the rivers located in the Midwest multiple times a year. She had a remarkable way of making friends with just about anyone she met. Her contagious smile was combined with a radiant energy that complimented her kindness and passion of creating a good time for all she was close to and herself, regardless of any hardship she had endured. She was a spiritual woman who now leaves behind a legacy of enjoying life to the fullest, and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
A celebration of her life is scheduled for October 9th-10th at Jack’s Fork River in Eminence, MO where she wants her family and friends to remember all the good times they’ve had and as her favorite songs are played in her honor.
