Melvin Russell Jones age 96, of Springfield, MO passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015 in Cox Medical Center South. He was born January 26, 1919, in Rogersville, MO, to Walter and Matilda (Corinth) Jones. He served in the United States Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dessie, daughter Janice Howard, and sons: Gary Jones, Ralph and Butch Carter, grandson: Phillip Ray Jones, and a grand-daughter: Christy Willis. He is survived by his children: Clinton and Betty Jones, Judy Richardson, Rick and Trish Carter, one brother: Elzie Jones and four sisters: Ruth, June, Patsy, and Norma, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Burial will be held with Military Honors in Springfield National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, MO.
