Mickey Gene Joplin (72), of Brighton MO passed into the presence of Jesus on October 20, 2015. He was born in Springfield MO on September 29, 1943 to Hershel James Joplin and Maryetta Lavern “Vernie” (Smith) Joplin, the fifth of five children. He was raised in Springfield MO.
He graduated with Willard High School’s class of 1961. He married Dorma Kay Burk on 1963 and to this union were born two daughters Melisa and Melinda and a son Michael. He was a retired brick and stone mason. Favorite past-time activities included watching motorsports, going to local dirt tracks to watch his son and grandson race, family cookouts, spending time outdoors and being with friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings Jack Wayne Joplin and Betty Jo (Joplin) Witherspoon.
He is survived by his two daughters Melisa Kay Beach and Melinda Gay Wood (Husband Mitchell) both of Springfield MO; son Michael James Joplin (wife Stephanie) of Willard MO; grandchildren Dustin and Jesse Beach, Amber Wells (Husband Richard), Amanda Wood, and Austin and Parker Joplin; siblings Tony Joplin, Sr. and Peggy Peterson; three great grandchildren; many nieces/nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visitation will be held at Greenlawn North, Springfield MO Sunday October 25, 2015 2 -4 pm with burial Monday in Brighton Cemetery, Brighton MO at 10am.
