Mildred (Robertson) Vandergrift from Springfield passed away peacefully at the age of 94 in Cox Hospital on Aug. 30, 2016. Mildred was born on April 17, 1922, growing up in the Bois D’Arc area and later in Springfield area after she married Leroy Vandergrift in 1937 raising four children, Wayne, Vivian, Virgil, and Gary. She spent most of her life giving and taking care of others, having a passion for writing poetry from the 1930’s until she passed that moved anyone that read it. She also had a great love for music, playing the harmonica at special events. She also loved to fish. Most important to her was spending time with family and friends, always giving you her undivided attention when you spoke, and most of all her faith in God. She attended Galloway Full Gospel Church. Mildred was the wife of the late Leroy Vandergrift, Devoted mother of Wayne Vandergrift and Dolores, Vivian Malicoat and Jim, Gary Vandergrift and Connie, and her late son Virgil Vandergrift and his surviving wife Jeanne. She was grandma, great grandma, great great grandma to many. Friends and family will gather at Greenlawn North on Tuesday, Sept 6, 2016 at 1:00 for a memorial service.
