Pastor Larry Gene Spain, 82, Fair Grove, Mo. was called to his heavenly home, on Sunday September 20, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his family. Larry was born in Manhattan, Kansas, on January 26, 1938, to Berty and Inez (Edwards) Spain. Larry spent 47 years as a pastor, spreading the word of God in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Wyoming, Colorado, and Oregon. At the time of his death, he was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Fair Grove, MO. He also used his talents as a journeyman electrician for many years, as well. Larry loved his life, helping others find Jesus and spending time with his family.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Judy Mae Spain and his siblings: Opal, Sylvia, Norman, Bill, Betty, and June. He is survived by his wife: Judi, his three children: Dorothy Robbins and her husband, Tony, Tammy Schienle, and Carl Gene Spain and his wife, Rachel Spain-Travis, eight grandchildren: Melissa, Christy, Michelle, Deborah, Amber, Larry, Hazel, and Mabel, fifteen great-grandchildren, his brother-in-law: Frank Nelson, and sister-in-law: Pat Spain as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the First Southern Baptist Church; 14 East Maple Street, Fair Grove, MO. 65648. Visitation will be one hour before services, from noon to 1:00 p.m. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020, at St. George Cemetery, St George, Kansas. Memorial donations may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church, Fair Grove, MO.
