Patsy Loucresia Lutheran, age 84, of Springfield, passed away at the James River Care Center on September 20, 2022. Patsy was born to William McNeely and Mary (Morrison) McNeely on October 4, 1937, in Granby, a small mining town in Newton County, Missouri. She was united in marriage to George Lutheran, on October 7, 1962, in their hometown of Granby. George and Patsy were blessed with two children, J. Scott Lutheran and Jennifer (Lutheran) Tillman.
Patsy retired from the Republic School District after serving many distinguished years as an elementary school office manager and secretary. Thousands of students and parents were touched by Patsy’s unrelenting kindness and compassion. She made the world a better place through her daily support of students, teachers, parents, and administrators. According to her former principal, Dr. Pam Hedgpeth, “Pat was the consummate professional and unsung hero of Republic Elementary School 1.” In addition to her work at school, Patsy was an excellent seamstress who gave attention to every stitch and detail. She enjoyed quilting, making clothes for needy children, and sewing with her friends from Battlefield United Methodist Church. Patsy was also an excellent gardener who found great pleasure working in her yard.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary McNeely and her grandson, Andrew Tillman. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years, George; son, J. Scott Lutheran; daughter, Jennifer Tillman; grandson, Zach Tillman; brothers, Bud and Larry McNeely; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and former colleagues. Just like the pieces of the quilts she so lovingly made, Patsy’s children, grandchildren, family, and friends were the pieces of the life she stitched together to create an amazing quilt of beauty, happiness, and love. In the words of her children, “we will dearly miss you, never forget you, and forever love and cherish you.”
Memorial contributions can be made to Battlefield United Methodist Church (5475 Daniel Street, Battlefield, MO 65619) in the memory of Patsy Lutheran.
