Paul Louis Yakey was born January 19, 1936 in Springfield, MO and died January 19, 2025 in Springfield, MO. Paul used his incredible creativity to build homes and renovate homes, repair cars and restore antique cars, and was known for his ability to fix most anything. He enjoyed time with friends in clubs such as the Classic Car Club, and was a faithful servant of the Lord through Macedonia Baptist Church. In his younger years he enjoyed motorcycle rides, camping and hunting. Paul was preceded in death by his parents Joseph S. Yakey, and Janie “Pauline” (Fults) Yakey and his brother Joe Bill Yakey. He is survived by Helendean (Highfill) Yakey, his wife of 68 years, as well as his children Randy Yakey (Seguin, TX), Penny Kittrell (Nixa, MO) and Kelley Berberich (McKinney, TX) as well as their spouses Mark and Steve respectively. He was also greatly loved by five grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Paul is also survived by his sister Ann Burchell (Springfield, MO) who tirelessly cared for him along with Penny in his last year of life. The family would also like to thank his brother-in-law Richard “Dick” Highfill for helping Paul and Helen during their time of need. Visitation is Monday January 27 at noon followed by the funeral at 1 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home 3506 N. National, Springfield, MO. Memorial donations may be sent to Macedonia Baptist Church 3110 W.
