Peggy Lou Eldred, 88, passed away March 10, 2021.
Peggy was born September 29, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was born to James Althoff and Beulah Crocker. Frank and Cecil Ream were her loving adoptive parents who raised her in Springfield, MO.
Peggy met Ellis Eldred in their elementary school years, and they later became high school sweethearts. After graduating from Springfield Senior High School, in Springfield, MO, in 1951, Peggy enjoyed being a homemaker during her married life. Peggy and Ellis were blessed with four children, five grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
As they raised their family, church life was also important to Peggy. During her lifetime, she served as a Sunday School teacher, a church office worker, and canvased neighborhoods to share the good news of Christ. She also had a love for playing the piano and singing. Peggy passed on this love for Christ and for music to others.
Peggy is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Ellis Eldred, and sons Timothy Eldred and Gary Eldred. She is survived by son, Randy Eldred, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Eldred, of Grain Valley, MO; daughter, Jennifer (Eldred) Spencer, of Olathe, KS, and grandsons, Zachary Spencer and Blake Spencer, of Olathe, KS; Stephen Eldred, of Topeka, KS; and granddaughters, Jessica Talley, of Lee’s Summit, MO; and Mandi Eldred, of Blue Springs, MO.
We will miss Peggy, her loving hugs, and playful moments. The family wishes to thank Aberdeen Village of Olathe for the care and love given to her by the Chaplain and daily staff.
A service celebrating Peggy’s life and honoring God will be held at 3:00 pm at Greenlawn North Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri on Friday, March 19, 2021.
