Phyllis J. Wren, 76, departed this earthly life February 29, 2016 after a year-long fight with cancer. Born July 8, 1939 in Columbia, MO, the daughter of Leon and Maude (Eubank) Wren. She graduated from Hickman HS in 1957 and from UMC in 1959 with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Sciences/Business. She worked as a Sr. Administrative Assistant her entire career, for many years at Stephens College but the majority at UMC. She was a “Jill of All Trades” with many talents and skills. She loved gardening and traveling around the US as well as to Germany and was a die-hard Cardinals fan.
Phyllis is pre-deceased by her parents. She is survived by her brother, Dr. Daniel (Kathy) Wren of Norman, OK, by her daughter, Hon. Donna (Mark) Honzel and granddaughters Brooke and Becca, of Rockford, IL, and by her son, Dipl.-Ing Phillip (Susann) Burkey of Frankfurt, Germany and grandchildren Kris, Ben, Joshua, Collin and Sidney, as well as by her best and dearest friend, Peggy LeJeune of Springfield, MO and their dog April.
The family wishes to thank Mercy Hospice and especially Tracy Wise and caretakers Sharon Lee and Doris Hall. Their aid and comfort allowed Phyllis to peacefully pass at her home with those she loved.
A Memorial Service will be held March 11, 2016 at Greenlawn – East Funeral Home in Springfield, MO from 5 – 7 pm and a Graveside Service will be held March 12, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Columbia, MO at 1 pm.
