Rev. Michael L Green, age 62, of Republic passed away Monday, September 3rd, 2018.

Mike was born November 7, 1955 in St. Louis, MO to Homer and Betty Green. He was a graduate of DeSoto High School, he attended Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO, where he received an Associates degree, he then attended Southeast Missouri State University, where he received a Bachlor of Science Degree. He attended Mid Amercia Baptist Theological Seminary, Memphis TN. He was united in marriage to Cathryn Dostal on December 2, 1978, in Cape Girardeau, MO. Mike pastored at Iona Baptist Church, Cape Girardeau, was a Youth Pastor at Coventry Estates, Independence, MO, and Senior Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Republic, MO, from where he retired.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Cathryn Green, Republic; one daughter, Elise Green, Branson, MO; one son Matthew Green and wife Toni, Little Rock, AR; two grandchildren, Jayden Green and Simon Green; his parents, Homer and Betty Green, Branson, MO; one sister; Debbie Pedersen, Murfreesboro, TN, and a host of family and friends.

A memorial celebration for Mike will be held Sunday, September 9th, 2018 at 2:00 pm in Calvary Baptist Church Republic, MO. Memorial contributions may be made in Mike's name to the C.A.R.E. Animal Rescue, Springfield, MO. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.

Cathy and family please accept my condolences on your loss. Mike was a great friend and always supported me as superintendent of schools. I always enjoyed our conversations about many topics and appreciated his sincereity and concern.

Besides being high school classmates, Mike and I shared a birthday--there were 7 of us from that graduating class. It has been good to be able to follow Mike's story through Facebook, even though we live far apart. His loss leaves a hole in my heart that he was taken Home so soon, but it is good to trust in God's promises, who is always faithful. My prayers and sincere condolences during this difficult time.

We are so sorry to hear of Mike's passing, We will continue to keep Cathy and the family in our prayers.

Mike Green was a friend, mentor and dear brother in Christ to me. He was a great churchman and pastor, a model for younger men and a devoted follower of Christ. I loved him and admired him. We stood together in difficult days and I was able to stand stronger because Mike was beside me!! We are all better for knowing him. Cathy, I am praying for you!! David Tolliver

Cathy, Elise, and Matthew, Please know our love is coming your way at this painful time. Upon hearing of Mike’s moving home, we reflected on our years of calling Bro Mike our pastor. 1982-1993. the years went so rapidly, with so many milestones and memories. We recall his many positive traits as he sherpedered his flock, providing wise counsel, and appropriate correction. His work on earth ended young, but his impact will be known eternally. How wonderful that we grieve not as those who have no hope, but we can rejoice knowing heaven grows sweeter each day. Regretfully, we are out of state until September 15. We would love to be present for the memories and joys that will be shared Sunday. Please know we are present in spirit and love. I could write for a year and never touch the tip of all the ways that Mike and Cathy touched my life. They were there through many moments and milestones. It is so hard to think of Mike going home so early. I am praying for you all. I love you and I pray that you will know love, peace, and comfort in this time of loss.
