Richard was one of my favorite patients at the drug store! I always enjoyed helping and visiting with him and his family. In times of need, he was so positive! His laughter and love for life were contagious. He certainly will be missed by all! Lovingly, George Graddy

Karen, I was so saddened to hear of your Dad's passing. No doubt he is with the Lord completely healed and well. The few times I was able to meet him in the office, there was a sense that he was a kind and loving father. My thoughts and prayers are with you my friend, and the rest of the family. --Ted--

Brother Messner was such a good friend to the ministry. I always enjoyed our time of just sitting and talking shop. He had such a perspective on what a pastor goes through, time spent with him he left a fragrance of peace and understanding with it is well! Brother Messner enjoyed his days of being an airplane pilot but he experienced a plain air ride Sunday. Enjoy your eternal home; Well Done Your Friend Alvin Blackard

Kind and loving man who truly exemplified the love of Christ. His smile brought joy to all who were around him. We are so sorry for this loss, and we are praying for your comfort.
Laurel J Miller left a message on December 4, 2018:
Brother Messner was pastor of Elwood A/G when most of the Miller family of 10 were in their formative years. He was a great mentor and pastor but he also had a great sense of humor. Mom related a story about his reaction to a fire at the church while the prayer warrior women were intent in prayer. He said something like this might be the first time too much prayer caught the church on fire. We would just need to be prepared with a better sprinkler system. Weddings are the special memories we have with Brother Messner since he officiated two events for my sisters. They were both successful by today's standards, so at our last visit, we were joking that we needed to find our last sister a spouse while Brother Messner could still perform. Well, Lynne's window of opportunity ran out. We can just treasure the memories of this wonderful man and his incredible family. We love them all and pray for God's comfort for them at this time.
