Rita Kay Mattocks, age 77, of Willard, Missouri, passed away on September 3, 2025, in Willard, Missouri. Rita was born to Charles Ratje and Alma Ratje on January 9, 1948, in Sedalia, Missouri. She grew up in Sedalia, went to Washington Elementary School and graduated from Smith Cotton High School in 1965.
After graduation she moved to Springfield, Missouri and began her career in banking. The first bank she worked at was Bell Savings in downtown Springfield, she worked there for a while before moving to First Savings Bank of Springfield. She spent nearly 30yrs. in banking as a Loan Officer before retiring in 1996.
Rita met and united in marriage to Nolan E. Mattocks on February 14, 1983, in Miami, Oklahoma, they had 13 great years together. Together they enjoyed dancing at Elks Club for certain occasions, they also loved boating, traveling/flying together, and spending time with friends. Rita loved writing poetry, reading, roller skating(which she was great at). She love telling stories, singing karaoke. She loved playing music by ear on her dulcimer, tap dancing, and hula hooping.
Rita was preceded in death by her spouse, Nolan Mattocks; father, Charles Ratje; mother, Alma Ratje. She is survived by her daughter Tara Schermerhorn; son-in-law Paul Schermerhorn; grandson Parker Schermerhorn; friend Cindi Jones; friend Donna Morgan; friend Linda Coats; friends Bob and Lynn Castleberry, and numerous other friends and family.
A visitation for Rita will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025, 5:00-7:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The service will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025,1:00 pm. Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with a burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located in Springfield, Missouri.
