Robert Frank Mantle 92, Springfield, MO. formerly of Fairview Heights, Ill. passed away on January 29, 2016. He was born December 7, 1923 in Troy, Ill. He attended Eastside High School, East St. Louis, Ill. and SIU, Carbondale, Ill. Robert was a WW II Veteran and was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 34 years. Robert was married to Jacqueline Grace Mantle on September 9, 1947. His hobbies were woodcarver, basket weaver, broom maker, master cooper at Silver Dollar City and Dollywood.
Robert was preceded in death by parents Glenn W. Mantle and Hazel Mantle (Snodgrass) and a brother Glenn L. Mantle. Robert is survived by his wife Jacqueline G. Mantle, three children Linda Gort (Mickey), Melody Connor (Thomas), and Barbara Hanfland (Thomas). Four grandchildren, Molly Adams (Steven), Adam Gort (Dawn), Keri Roark, TJ Hanfland (Courtney), and seven great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held at the Gardens Independent Living. Services are entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
