Robert Wayne “Bob” Spellman, son of Leonard Mark and Helen Haymes Spellman, was born January 21, 1941, in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life May 3, 2019 in Ozark, Missouri at the age of 78 years.
After graduating from Hillcrest High School in 1959, he began his career at Montgomery Truck Stop where he eventually retired from in 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Janet (Housley) Spellman, of the home; one daughter, Angela Victoria Alexander of Camdenton, Missouri; two grandsons, Jacob Rilen Brown and Braden Zayne Alexander; one brother, David Spellman of Affton, Missouri; one sister, Ann Dare and her husband John of Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho; two brothers-in-law, Willis Housley of Springfield, Missouri and Stephen Housley and his wife Linda of Branson, Missouri; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rilen Wayne Spellman; his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, William and Jeanette Housely; sisters-in-law Jeanette Spellman, Wanda Housley, Sue Arnall and a brother-in-law Richard Arnall.
Bob was a gentle, quiet and hardworking man who loved to tell jokes and stories, all things motorsports and his Kansas City Chiefs. He loved his family, both immediate and extended and never missed an opportunity for a visit.
We take comfort in the fact that his death is only a temporary separation and that we will all be together again someday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 9, 2019 with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 North National Avenue, Springfield, MO. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
