Roberta Lee Prosser, just 25 days short of her 99th birthday, peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends June 4th 2020 at her home on Ellison Drive, Springfield, Missouri.
Roberta was born June 29, 1921 in Springfield to Minnie and Percy Payne. She attended Roundtree grade school and Central High School. Roberta married George W. Prosser on June 3, 1941 and they had 3 boys; Rick, Gary and Gregg. The Prosser’s built and solely-owned their family home on Republic Road, which is now the site of
Ridgecrest Baptist Church. Roberta enjoyed a 30 year career with Commonwealth Theatres training future Managers and serving as their citywide Bookkeeper.
She was known as Nana to her eight grandchildren, Jeff, Elizabeth, Jeremy, Jennifer, Chris, David, Emily, and Sara, 11 great grandchildren and her beloved dog Copper.
She loved painting, sewing and made many beautiful blue ribbon quilts. She was especially proud of the ribbons she won at the Ozark Empire Fair. She had her final Art Show of 12 oil paintings in November and December 2019, at Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America in Lawrence, Kansas.
Roberta was preceded in death by her husband George in 1985 and son Gregg in 1991.
She is survived by her son Rick and wife Charlotte of Lawrence, Kansas and Gary of Springfield.
A memorial visitation for Roberta will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at 12:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Her service will follow at 1:00 p.m. with burial to take place in White Chapel Cemetery.
