Robin Sweitzer, long time resident of Springfield, MO., peacefully succumbed to a long illness on July 4th, 2015. She was preceded in death by her father, Jay McFarland and her husband, Robert Sweitzer. Robin is survived by her mother, Stella Long of Kentucky., brothers Greg and Scott McFarland of Ky, and sister Carla Esposito of Arizona and her very dear friend, Larry Arnold, Springfield, MO. Robin also has uncles, aunts and cousins, and many friends celebrate her life.
Robin was born and raised in Fort Thomas, Ky. She was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. She was a long time member of the National Federation of the Blind. She also was a member of the Missouri Council of the Blind, the Springfield Association of the Blind, the Lutheran Ministries for the Blind. She was also a beloved member of the Hillcrest Presbyterian Church and loved her Christ.
Robin will be remembered for her love of humanity, her willingness to help anyone that she could. She was a tireless advocate for the rights of the blind. She loved life and enjoyed being with her friends, an avid book reader and going to good movies. Robin was fond of learning new things and ideas. She was somewhat of a news hound.
Robin will be solely missed and leaves a big hole in the hearts of her loved ones and friends.
Visitation will be held from 10 – 12 AM at Hillcrest Presbyterian Church on July 10. Funeral services will be held immediately following. A reception will be held at the church hosted by the church members. Hillcrest Presbyterian Church is located at 816 E. Norton Road. Greenlawn Funeral Home North will be handling the arrangements.
