Ruth Pauline Talent was born in Burbank, CA on July 7, 1932. She passed away peacefully, at the age of 85, with family by her side on February 17, 2018.
Ruth’s family moved to Republic, MO in 1946. She graduated from Republic High School in 1950.
Ruth is survived by 3 of her 4 children; Steven Talent of Mesa, AZ, Rebecca & Rick Archer of Ash Grove, MO, Kathy & Bob Loffler of Galena, MO; 8 grandsons; 2 granddaughters; 5 great-grandsons; 4 great-granddaughters; and her siblings, Dorothy Tuck of Springfield, MO, and Walter Larson of Washington, MO.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Arthur & Mary Holderby Larson; her step-mother Francis Larson; her husband Kenneth E. Talent; and her son David L. Talent.
Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She served as PTA president at Holland Elementary, a Cub Scout Den Mother, and a Camp Fire Girls leader. Actively involved in her church, she taught Bible school for 40 years starting as a teenager, and 10 years volunteering in clothing distribution for the South National Church of Christ.
Ruth spent her life faithfully serving her family, church, and community in the love of Jesus Christ.
Ruth loved music and was always singing. She played piano, and taught lessons in her home. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and reading a good mystery.
Ruth had a passion for genealogy, and was especially proud of her Swedish ancestry as well as her deep Ozark’s roots. She was a very organized woman. She compiled priceless written family history, photographs, and personal life memories to leave as her legacy.
She was baptized into Christ in 1942, and was a member of Sunset Church of Christ in Springfield, MO.
Ruth will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be at Greenlawn South from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 1:30pm at Greenlawn South with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.
