Sandra Lee Dock, age 78, went home to be with Jesus on February 4th 2023. Sandra was born in Mountain Home Arkansas on November 27th 1944 to Lowell and Velma Bennett. Sandra was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was blessed to have a servant’s heart and that gifting touched many lives; whether it was sending goodie bags and letters to college kids from home, crocheting afghans and infant ‘cocoons”, teaching Sunday school, or pursuing one of her greatest passions developing and writing Sunday school curriculum.
Sandra met her husband Ervin at Parkview High School and they began dating their sophomore year of high school. Their marriage of 58 years displayed their love for each other and set a wonderful example for others to follow. Together they raised two children Teresa and John. They successfully owned and operated a local business, Audiology & Hearing Center, where she served as CFO. Family though was one of Sandra’s greatest joys! She so loved her seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren! She was affectionately known simply as GG (Groovy Grandma) by each of them. She loved traveling to each of their events, recitals, and ball games. Every time she was with them you could see her face light up with joy. The last six months as she battled cancer she carried with her a “warrior blanket” made for her by her grandchildren to take to each treatment. The blanket displayed the names of GG’s family members so she always knew her prayer warriors were close by to battle with her.
Sandra and Ervin loved camping and traveling with a rascally group known as the “Spooners”! Known as Hickory and Dickery, together the “Spooners” traveled many places and created many memories becoming their own traveling family.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Lowell and Velma Bennett and her twin sister Anna Marie.
Sandra is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ervin Dock. Two children, Teresa (Rod) Coffman and John (Tammy) Dock. Seven grandchildren: Caleb (Macey Coffman), Rachel (Daniel) Plume, Hannah, Sarah, and Jacob Coffman; Emily (Audie Monroe) and Evan Dock. Five great grandchildren: Will, Esther, Bennett and Anna Ruth Coffman, and Carson Plume. Her sister and husband Sharon and Darrell Reeds and brother-in-laws Morris (Becky) and Paul (Angela) Dock, as well many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to Mercy for incredible care at all levels, from clinic, to ER, to in-patient care. Specifically, the family would like to thank her primary care physician Dr. Monte Maska who went far beyond what it means to care for someone; Dr Rajesh Nair, her Oncologist, who gave her confidence in this fight from the moment she met him; Dr. Julio Nasim, Infectious Disease and Dr. Madhu Pendurthi, Pulmonologist for their kindness and expertise; Chris Florez, RN Oncology floor (7A), Christina Tolliver RN ICU, and Comfort Care Coordinator Cat Lee RN for their incredible compassion and kindness they showed while Sandra was in their care!
A Celebration of Sandra’s Life will be held February 18th at 10:00 am at Sunset Church of Christ. In leu of flowers the family asks that you make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, an organization that was very dear to Sandra’s heart.
Sandra fought a courageous battle with cancer for six months and during that time Sandra had a poem framed and put on the wall close to where she spent many hours crocheting. It simply reminded us all of what cancer did not do:
“It cannot cripple love
It cannot shatter hope
It cannot corrode faith
It cannot destroy peace
It cannot kill friendship
It cannot suppress memories
It cannot silence courage
It cannot invade the soul
It cannot steal eternal life
It cannot conquer the spirit”
So today we celebrate because we know that GG is now with her Lord!
