Sandra Lee Hawks 78, Springfield, MO. passed away May 4, 2020, after a long illness. She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on December 27, 1941, to Lawrence and Naomi (Hurst ) Hawks. She was a long-time area resident and she was a retired receptionist for the Greene County Office of Emergency Management. Sandra loved the outdoors, was an avid bird watcher and loved Nascar Racing, especially Mark Martin. She also enjoyed collecting blown glass.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, one grandchild, Stacy Surbaugh-Warren, her sister, Vivadean Cryer, and her four nephews: Eddie Durban, John Cryer, Lonnie Cryer, and Ray Cryer. She is survived by her husband, Jim Layne, her two daughters: Kim Crowe and Lisa Keith, (Jeff Stanhope) two grandchildren: Jessica Crowe ,Christopher Crowe ( wife, Candi ) and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Bass Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. The family would like to suggest a donation to one of Sandra’s favorite charities: Victory Mission, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or to The Kitchen.
