Shirley Jeanne (Roth) Eckert, 95, of Springfield peacefully passed from this life to her heavenly home on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2022. She was born on March 2, 1927, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. She received her Registered Nurse training through the United States Navy Nurses Corp in the 1940’s. Shirley married the love of her life, Dr. Robert Winston Eckert, at a formal ceremony on June 10, 1950.
Dr. Eckert had a medical and surgical practice in Los Angeles, CA, where Shirley was his surgical nurse and later his office manager until their retirement to the Ozarks in 1977.
Shirley accepted the Lord as her Savior. She had many hobbies which included landscape oil painting, needle crafts, reading and Bridge card groups. She was a member of Crescent Chapter #21 Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the White Shrine as well as Order of True Kindred serving as officers in both local and state chapters of these organizations.
In addition to her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, George Edmund Roth and Thelma Olive (Funk) Roth. She is survived by her daughter, Shirley Jeanne Eckert Hodgson; a son, Robert W. Eckert II and his wife, Debbie; a grandson, Robert W. Eckert III all of Springfield, MO, and two granddaughters, Emily Jeanne (Miller) Pereira and her husband, Ryan, of Annandale, VA, and Dr. Sarah Jeanne Miller of Cockeysville, MD.
No formal funeral service is planned.

The family wishes to thank the staff at The Neighborhoods of Quail Creek Skilled Nursing facility and especially those in Willow Neighborhood as well as the staff at Seasons Hospice and most recently Intrepid Hospice for their loving care of Shirley.
