Shirley “June” Copeland Moore, 84 passed away on April 27th, 2019 at James River Care & Rehabilitation Center. June was born February 1st, 1935 at her parent’s Farm House in Safe, Missouri. Her parents provided her a good life on the family farm with her three siblings and cousins. June attended a one-room grade school. She graduated from Rolla High School in 1951.
June spent most of her adult years in Carthage, then Springfield, Missouri.
A few of her careers consisted of bookkeeping for House Of Quality and James River Center. June was a member of South Gate Baptist Church. She was blessed with family, friends, and her church life. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading and playing dominos. June was a faithful volunteer at St John’s (Mercy) Hospital for over 20 years, with more than 4200 hours helping others. She enjoyed Transitional Care and was a stroke ambassador. June also worked with Mercy Seniors planning events.
June was preceded in death by her husband, John F Moore Sr.; parents Garrett and Mary Esther Hemme Copeland; sister Darlene (husband Byron) Kearbey; nephews:
Byron Kearbey Jr, Kevin Kearbey and brother in law Bennie Beach.
Survivors include son Vincent Smith, ex-husband Stuart Smith; brother Don (Jan) Copeland; sister Arlene Copeland Beach; nieces Lynn (Terry) O’Leary; Jill (Kevin)
Hite; Bobbi (Tony) Justus; Garrett (Margie) Kearbey ; and many amazing cousins.
Celebration of Life Service will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E Seminole in Springfield on Thursday, May 2nd @ 11:30 am.
