Skylar Lee Matthews, 23, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 from injuries due to an automobile accident. Skylar was born May 17, 1997 in Springfield, Missouri to Jamie Ray Willeford and Gina Jeanette Matthews.
He was a graduate of Parkview High School where he was a member of the marching band, playing the baritone. He then went on to M.S.U. continuing in marching band and winning many awards for his achievements. Skylar was a very smart and talented young man and it showed in everything he did. He loved cars, video games, shooting guns, hiking, basketball, and most of all, spending time with friends and family. He was very loved and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Skylar was preceded in death by his mother: Gina, two grand-fathers and one grandmother. He is survived by his father: Jamie Willeford, two brothers: William Whisnant, and Dillan Reid, two sisters: Courtney Willeford and Patricia Whisnant, three nephews: Draven Shearer, Zane Mathis, and Dominick Mathis, his grandmother: Judy Matthews, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 2020, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with burial to follow in Bellview cemetery.
