Stephen Michael Purdy Sr., age 73, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 13, 2024, at The Maples. Stephen was born to Aryland Purdy and Frances Purdy on August 22, 1950, in Fontanelle, IA. He was raised in Fontanelle, IA.

Stephen was united in marriage to Kathy Purdy in 1976. Stephen and Kathy shared 34 years of marriage. The couple were blessed with two sons.

Stephen was employed as a plumber. He especially loved fishing with friends and family, and he found great joy in teaching them how to fish and watching them reel in the big one. He raised his two boys, with his wife Kathy, in Branson, MO, where they fished almost every day. Stephen will be remembered as someone that would help you at the drop of a hat with his big smile and unique humor. 

Stephen was preceded in death by his father, Aryland Purdy, and his mother, Frances Purdy. He is survived by his sons, Steve Purdy and Jeff Purdy, and his daughter, Bobbie Glomboski. Stephen’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.
