Sue Elene (Bond) Rees passed away in the early hours of March 22, 2015, surround by her family after struggling with liver disease for several months. Sue was born December 14, 1947 to Lester O. and Clara Alice (Gartman) Bond.
A loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is preceded in death by her parents and infant sister Carol Ann Bond. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Henry E. Rees and their three daughters, Regina St John and husband Geoff, Mariana Booth and husband Greg, and Alicia Cecconi and husband David. She was blessed with nine grandchildren: Holley Perry, Clarissa Perry, Grace St John, Josiah St John, Dante Cecconi, Rebecca St John, Abigail St John, Rees Cecconi and Charlotte “Charlie” St John, and one great-granddaughter, Kyra Perry. Additional family includes her Aunts Anne Lee Bond Curtis of Eldon, MO, Ruby Gartman of Lake Forest, CA, plus several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to enjoying her family, Sue also enjoyed reading, sewing, cross-stitch and embroidery. She took on the role of family genealogist. She enjoyed the challenge of researching family roots for all branches of her family tree. She is a member of University Heights Baptist Church and looked forward each week to lunch with the ladies of her mother’s lunch group.
Sue was an active member of the Order of Eastern Star; Past Matron of Amherst Chapter No. 115, Amherst, VA and Queen City Chapter No. 226, Springfield, MO. She was the Grand Representative of Missouri in Virginia, 2011-2013. She was very active in the Masonic Youth Group, International Order of Job’s Daughters serving as Grand Guardian of Virginia, 2004-2005, and Bethel Guardian, Bethel 12, Norfolk, Va.

Sues family would like to thank the staff at Cox South Hospital, 3 West and Quail Creek who cared for her in her final illnesses during the last month.
Arrangements are being handled by Greenlawn South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 25 from 6:00 – 8:00pm, with an Eastern Star Memorial Service at 7:30pm. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, March 26 at 1:00pm with interment to follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
