Thomas (Tom) A. Howell was born February 7, 1943, in Middletown, NY, and passed away July 9, 2022.
Tom served in the Korean War for 4 years. He went to work for Ford Motor Company in New Jersey and later transferred to Kansas City, Missouri. He then transferred to Florida. Tom worked for 38 years for Ford Motor Company in an administrative position. Tom retired from there and resided in Florida for several years. Tom moved to Springfield, Missouri in 2014 to be closer to where his sons lived. After retiring, he worked in carpentry and did finish work.
Tom was considered quite the handyman- Mr. Fix It! He also loved to deep sea fish, play golf, go bowling, and spend time at the casinos.
He loved going to Branson to the shows and all the entertainment. He was a foodie and loved trying new restaurants! Tom also loved working in his yard and flower gardens!
Tom was a very loving, caring, and giving husband to his wife, Betty! He was a Christian and from time to time would attend Nixa Baptist church. Tom was a very loving and generous man, who loved his family and wanted the best for them. It was a special treat for him to know how loved he was by his family.
Tom will be terribly missed by his family and friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas A. Howell and Mildred McElroy Howell, and his stepson, Rick Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson Howell; siblings, Betty Ann, Donna, Susie, Joannie, Mary, Harriet, and John; his sons, Kenney Howell and Jeffery Howell; his stepchildren, Josh, Gail Skalicky (Al), Kevin Johnson (Sandy), and Christy Hodges (Garry); and a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 to 12:30 with a service beginning at 12:30 at Greenlawn East Funeral Home, 3540 E. Seminole St, Springfield, MO 65809. Burial will follow at Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
