Travis Scott Langum, 31, of Branson, died in his home on Thursday, September 10, 2015.
Travis was born on October 24, 1983 in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, and spent the early years of his life in nearby Morning Sun. He moved to the Ozarks with his family when he was two years old.
Travis, whose love and admiration for his grandpa Jack, a former major-league pitcher, was boundless, grew up on the baseball diamonds of Branson. “Lefty” made most of his best friends there, and his coaches left an indelible imprint on his life and personality. He went on to pitch for Johnson County Community College, where he earned his associate degree.
Travis had an entrepreneurial spirit, which he put to work in sales and marketing. He was the classic closer: he never met a stranger, was quick to put a smile on any face, and was particularly adept at identifying how to connect personally with everyone who was lucky enough to meet him.
Travis was devoted to his son, Drake. The two of them loved adventuring in their kayak together and exploring all of the thrills the Ozarks had to offer. He taught Drake the importance of living in peace with all of those around him.
A celebration of life will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson on Monday, September 14, 2015, at one o’clock in the afternoon. Travis’s best friend and uncle, Pastor Kyle Hamilton, will officiate. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn.
Travis was predeceased by his mother, Kristi (Hamilton) Langum.
Travis is survived by his son; his sister, Jacki Langum (Pat Mobley), of St. Louis; his father, Wendell Langum, of Branson; his brother, Rick (Connie) Langum, of Springfield; his sister, Linda Austin, of Hutchinson, KS; his grandparents, Jack and Jan (DeYarman) Hamilton of Branson; his great-grandmother, Elva DeYarman, of Morning Sun, IA; his aunt, Karla (Sarahjane) Hamilton, of Rochester, MN; his uncle, Kyle (Kim) Hamilton, of Branson; his niece and nephews; his cousins; and many more beloved relatives and friends.
