Mrs. Vada Claudine Swims, age 85 of Davenport, Iowa formerly of Stockton, MO, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009, in Manor Care Nursing Facility in Davenport, Iowa. She was born April 22, 1924 in Newbern, Tennessee to Eolean and Eva Applewhite. Vada was a resident of Stockton for 17 years living in Hickory Heights Apartments and moved to Davenport in 1995 to live with her daughter Shirley. She loved fishing and camping around Stockton Lake. Vada and her twin sister Vera walked almost every shore line around Stockton Lake, while finding over 700 fishing lures that they had collected.
Her parents, husband William Chester Swims, twin sons Chester and Lester and her six brothers and sisters precede her in death.
She is survived by her children: Shirley Ann Wood; Larry Wayne Swims and Gary Wayne Swims; five grandchildren David, Matthew, Lisa, Tammy & Christy and 11 Great grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mrs. Vada Claudine Swims will be at 10:00 Am Wednesday October 21, 2009 in the Stockton Cemetery, Stockton, Missouri with Chaplain Jim Friend officiating, with burial to follow.
