Viola Mae Beutler, 87, of Springfield, was born June 16, 1922. Viola (Pat or Vi) was diagnosed with Myasthenia Gravis in late March. She fought this disease bravely and when she came to the point she could no longer win the battle, she gave up the fight and turned it over to the Lord. She went to be with her heavenly Father on August 3, 2009. Viola graduated from Fair Grove School. She worked for Lily Tulip for eight years, retiring in 1972. She then worked for GE for 12 years before retiring in 1984. In June, 1946, in Springfield, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Beutler. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church and worked in community service as a volunteer. She was also a member of sewing club and bowled for many years. Viola was preceded in death by one son, Kenneth Beutler; eight brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by her husband, Gilbert Beutler; brother Charles and wife, Margaret Goodwin; four nieces; two nephews; and many other relatives and close friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. August 7, 2009, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held in the funeral home prior to the service from 12 to 2 p.m. The family requests that any donations be made to South Haven Baptist Church or Glenstone Baptist Church building funds.
