Virginia Ellen (Nee Young) Cook passed away on August 21, 2020, at the Miller County Care and Rehabilitation Center, Tuscumbia, MO. Virginia was born April 2, 1931, to Charles and Irene Young of Springfield, MO. She grew up in the Clear Creek area and attended Willard High School. She was a Christian, having given her life to Jesus Christ at the age of 13 at the Tatum Chapel Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. She served the Lord through her active membership in many Southern Baptist Churches in CA and MO.
On November 24, 1948, Virginia was united in marriage to Aubrey Guy Cook in Harrison, AR. To their union was born three children: Michael, Sheila, and Pamela.
Virginia was a homemaker, but for several years she worked for Micro Data and Santa Ana Public Schools in Santa Ana, CA, and for Zenith Corporation in Springfield, MO. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling with her family and watching all kinds of televised sports, including football, baseball, basketball, bowling, golf, and tennis. She also loved working crossword puzzles.
Virginia passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on
August 21, 2020, at the age of 89 years, 4 months, and 19 days. She was preceded in death by her husband Aubrey on June 24, 2009. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Irene Young; 3 brothers, Don, Charles, and John Young. She is survived by her 3 children, Michael (Cindy) of San Andreas, CA; Sheila (Kenneth) Luttrell of Hernando, FL; and Pamela (Dr. Bob Lilly) of Richland, MO.; 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Virginia is also survived by a half-sister Charlene Pentecost Troger of Springfield, MO., and a half-brother Keith Young of Springfield, MO.
Virginia will be laid to rest in the Clear Creek Cemetery, Springfield, MO on Thursday, August 27, 2020. Her funeral arrangements were made through Greenlawn North Funeral Home, Springfield, MO.
