Jo Ann Brumback, age 85, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2014, following a brief hospitalization for a broken hip. Jo Ann married John Brumback in 1949, and partnered with him throughout their marriage to farm, milk cows, and own and manage the Phillips 66 service station in Seymour for many years. Her other occupations ranged from school teacher (at High Prairie), factory worker, upholsterer, and cook. However, her main occupation and calling was that of faithful Christian wife, mother, homemaker, and ‘grama’. Her Christian walk began with her salvation at age 11, and her quiet, consistently Bible-based example influenced the lives of relatives, friends, neighbors, and church family.
Jo Ann was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son-in-law, David Russell.
Survivors are daughters Becky Russell of Seymour and Pauletta Rogers and husband, Gary, of Ozark; sisters Peggy Berry of Rogersville and Norma Jacobsen of Springfield; brother David Riggs and wife, Patricia, of Mesa, Arizona; grandchildren Lora Nichols and husband, Gary; Jackie Rogers; Heath Russell; Michelle Lawrence and husband, Mike; Nikki Russell; great grandchildren Jonathan Nichols and wife Casey; Colene Mead and husband Bobby; Brent Rogers; CJ Rogers; Mark Lawrence; Alexandrea Stamas; great-great grandchildren Andrew, Lillian, and Kolby Mead; Kylie Ann Nichols; numerous nieces and nephews; and precious church family of Diggins Baptist Church.
Jo Ann’s influence will live on as recipients of her handmade crocheted gifts and free-hand sketched personal cards remember her thoughtfulness.
A Memorial service will be on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. in the Diggins Baptist Church, Diggins, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Seymour YMCA or Seymour Library.
