Walter E Hastings, born in Joplin, MO on Oct 27, 1930, left this life to be with his Heavenly Father on Aug 19, 2015. Walter was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, a sister and a Granddaughter, he is survived by his wife Joy, his children, David (Terri), Randy (Cathe), Guy (April) and Cindy Niewald (Steve), 6 Grandchildren, 10 (one on the way) Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
He graduated from Webb City High in 1948 and left to join the Air Force this same year, he loved his country and was proud to have served until 1956. The family then moved to Springfield and he started his career with Hoffman Taft/Syntex in 1959, retiring in 1994. He was a member at Galloway Baptist Church.
Walter was a man that was sold out to his Savior, living his life with the confidence of a man that knew how the game was going to end and he was the winner. He married the love of his life, Joy J Dipley on June 12, 1950, he was a man smitten & totally committed to her for over 65 years.
He was an inspiring Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, he lived his life as an example to us all. His quiet strength was a great source of comfort & security to each of us through the years.
Walter was a man that loved well and was well loved by his family, we shall all miss him until the day we are united with him again in Heaven!
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.
