Wanda Sherline Craig, age 77, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 13, 2024, at Wilson’s Creek Nursing and Rehab. Wanda was born to Edgar and Opal (Townlain) Woodruff on June 29, 1946, in Mountain Grove, Missouri. She was raised and attended school in Rogersville and Strafford. Wanda was blessed with six children: Denny, Danny, Greg, Lenny, Benny, and Cindy.
For many years, Wanda cleaned houses in the Springfield area and established a reputation for being exceptional at her work. She also worked at Springfield Laundry and then in the laundry department at Mercy Hospital. After 15 dedicated years of employment at Mercy, Wanda retired in order to spend more time with her family and friends. Wanda took great pride in her yard and flower beds. She was known for raising some of the most beautiful flowers in the area. She was particularly fond of her hydrangeas and lilies. Wanda enjoyed listening to country music, especially the music of Crystal Gayle, Tex Ritter, and Christy Lane. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Wanda loved everyone and enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be deeply and forever missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Opal Woodruff; son, Benny Deckard; daughter, Cindy Trent; brothers, Gene Alfred and Lawrence Woodruff; and sisters, Pauline Wilson and Lois Creason; and her pet Pomeranian, Bear. She is survived by her son, Denny Deckard and his wife, Tammy; son, Danny Deckard; son, Greg Deckard; son, Lenny Deckard; sister, Judy Smith and her husband, Ted, Roberta; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A funeral service for Wanda Sherline Craig will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, 3:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. Following the service, Wanda will be laid to rest in Cardwell Chapel Cemetery located near Diggins, Missouri.
