Wayne Doyle Edwards, age 72, of Springfield, MO, went home to be with Jesus Wednesday, May 20, 2015. He was born April 17, 1943, in Lebanon, Mo, to Clarence (Lum) and Mabel (Branch) Edwards. He was a member of the National Heights Baptist Church. Wayne enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping and fishing with his family. He also served his community throughout his life, volunteering as a firefighter, serving as a reserve deputy officer, and a city council member. He was always a hard worker, having been employed by Holsum Baking, Colonial Baking, Foremost Foods, Pepsi Cola, and most recently as custodian for his church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother James, his sister Mildred and a great-grand-daughter Cheyenne. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathleen (Kathy) Edwards, his children: David and Heather Edwards, Camdenton, MO, Lori and David Eairheart, North Port, FL, Kristina and Aric Humble, Sparta, Mo, Mark and Heidi Edwards, Willard, MO. 12-grandchildren, 14-great-grandchildren and 1-great-great-grand-daughter, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015, at National Heights Baptist Church, Springfield, MO with Dr. Vaughn Weatherford officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at National Heights Baptist Church.
