Wilford Dale McDonald, 96, Springfield, Missouri, departed this life September 10, 2018 at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mount Vernon, Missouri.
He was born September 10, 1922 in Des Moines County, Iowa. He was the son of John Dwight and Doris Elma (Brown) McDonald.
He served in the Infantry three and one half years during WWII with the 71st Division from France to Austria.
He retired from CertainTeed Corporation after 32 years. He was an active member of Southminster Presbyterian Church of Springfield.
He was preceded in death by his wife Bessie, his parents, three sisters; Grace Beckman, Laurel Hugg, Ruth Bucci, one brother, Leonard McDonald and his brother-in-law Harold Haley.
Survivors include his two daughters, Carolyn Smith and husband Jerry of Liberty, Missouri, Deborah Curry and husband Richard of Springfield, Missouri, one son, Michael McDonald and wife Cheryl of Vorhees, New Jersey and one brother, Harry McDonald of Golden Colorado.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East.
Graveside services with military honors will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, September, 14, 2018 at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Missouri with Reverend Hubert Morris officiating.
