William “Kent” Dunning was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, August 22, at the age of 64 after a brave battle with cancer.
Kent is preceded in death by his father, Bill, his mother, Hazle, and grandson, Tyler Dunning. He is survived by his loving wife, Valerie; his children, Bart Dunning, Heather Wilke, and Holly (Greg) Fester; his four-legged son, Joe; his siblings and their spouses, Carol (Jim) Broyles, Connie (Oman) Lewis, Susie (David) Greenlee, and Chuck (Brenda) Dunning; his grandsons, Brennan, Ethan, Nolan, Trenton, and Logan; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Kent was an avid outdoorsman, musician, author, artist, athlete, and above all, a Christian. He joyfully served his community in a variety of ways, including volunteering at food banks and feeding the homeless. While residing in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, Kent worked as a property manager, captained his own deep sea fishing boat, proudly served on the board of the Okaloosa Island Fire Department, and was a dear friend to many.
A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 pm Saturday September 8, 2018 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 PM prior to the service.
Flowers for his ceremony or a memorial contribution to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
