Wilma Louise Stanley of Springfield passed away November 25, 2009, at the age of 90. Born January 20, 1919, near Foil, Ozark County, Missouri, Wilma is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 67 years, Hershel Stanley of Springfield; two sons, Eric Stanley of St. Louis, and Chris Stanley of Arvada, Colorado; three grandchildren, Jennifer Stanley, Jack Stanley and Claire Stanley; local nieces and nephew, Jerri Stanley of Rogersville, Jane Guthery of Fordland and Steve Rhoads of Lebanon; as well as many many more friends and family throughout the country. Wilma was preceded in death by her mother, Dovie Reid (McSwain); and her dear sister, Laura Jane Rhoads (McSwain).
Wilma was an active member of First General Baptist Church of Springfield and always found great joy in her favorite pastimes…sewing, quilting and gardening.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2009, in Greenlawn Funeral Home East, followed immediately by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow in Hazelwood Cemetery. A special thanks to Alzheimers Association, Elfindale Manor Home and Staff, Hospice Compassus, and a very special friend, Bonnie Keeth, who was Wilma’s caregiver in the home for three years.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to First General Baptist Church, 1400 W. Walnut St., Springfield, Mo., would be appreciated.
