Mrs. Wilma Maxine Smith (Max), age 92, of Springfield, MO. passed away Sunday morning, June 21, 2020 at her home surrounded by her devoted family.
She was born on January 29, 1928, in Greene County to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Easterday
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Delbert George Smith. They were married on August 27, 1945 and raised a family together before retiring in the home that they built together. She continued living in their home until her death.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Smith; one son, Donald Smith; one grandson, Benjamin Smith; one brother, Willard Easterday; five sisters, Mrs. Cora Miles, Mrs. Ethel Smith, Mrs. Pauline Toynton, Mrs. Billie Thurman, and Mrs. Louise Etheridge.
Maxine is survived by two sons and three daughters-in-law, David Smith (Sharon), Stephen Smith (Suzanne), and Patricia Hutton; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Smith (Jim); 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; many beloved nieces and nephews; a very special neighbor and friend, Elizabeth Swinney; and many other loving friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, with her son David Smith officiating.
Our sweet mother and grandmother will be dearly missed. The “Sassy Chics” are together again.
Maxine had a strong faith in God and never missed a day of reading her Bible at her kitchen table. She left many notes and words of encouragement in her Bible that her family will cherish for years to come.
