Dean passed away November 24, 2015 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, MO at the age of 57 years, 10 months. He was born January 28, 1958 in Sikeston, MO. He graduated from Sikeston High School in 1976. He joined the Navy after graduation. He was honorably discharged in June 1980. He was then employed by Zenith for 15 years and then at Loren Cook Co. for 12 years. Dean loved his family, including his loving wife Marian Russell (Cordova), his son Christopher Russell (currently stationed in Iraq), and daughter Jessica Russell of Springfield. He especially loved his six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Surviving also is his mother Connie Russell of Springfield and his best friend/brother John Scott Russell, also of Springfield. He is preceded in death by his father, Elmer Russell. “Dean was an old soul at heart”. He loved his music and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a recipient of a new liver in Dec. 2006. He was awaiting a lung transplant.
A memorial service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 30, 2015 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Inurnment with full military honors will be at Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Springfield at a later date.
In lieu of flowers a donation in his name can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN or the Paralyzed Veteran’s Association. He would be honored.
