Julie Sue Dorris was born October 23, 1959 to Julius and Irene (Langlois) Atwood in Peoria, Illinois. She died November 5, 2019 in Springfield, Missouri surrounded by her family.
Julie was preceded in death by her father, Julius. She leaves behind her husband, soulmate, and best friend of 38 years, Jerry. She is also survived by her mother, Irene Atwood; two children: Hannah Kreusel and her husband, Matthew; Andrew Dorris and his wife, Amanda; and five grandchildren: Kaylee, Ayden, Kenadee, Austyn, and Nolan, who she adored and were her pride and joy. She also leaves behind three sisters: Charlene, Margaret, and Patricia, and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Julie was deeply involved in the Springfield Seventh-day Adventist Church and was beloved by her church family. She was a Registered Nurse for Cox Medical Center, where she had worked for 40 years. Julie loved her family, friends, and church. She loved to travel and enjoyed reading, hiking, camping, and needlepoint. She made it her life's mission to serve others, always putting their needs ahead of her own.
A celebration of Julie's life will be at held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2019 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, with burial to follow at Liberty Baptist Cemetery, near Fellows Lake. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.at the funeral home.
