On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Eva Elaine Burns, loving wife and mother of two sons, passed away at the age of 72.
Elaine was born Eva Elaine Kruse on March 3, 1947 to David and Maxine Kruse of Big Creek, MO. She received her Education degree from the University of Missouri- Columbia and had a 25 year career teaching throughout the country. In 1969, she met married John Burns. They raised two sons, Steve and Jeff.
In addition to her family, Elaine enjoyed many activities throughout her life. Genealogy, sewing, quilting, and cooking. She particularly enjoyed teaching sewing and cooking to her granddaughter Emily. She was a voracious reader with a quick mind and generous heart.
Elaine is preceded in death by her father, David, her mother, Maxine, and her brother, David. She is survived by John, her two children Steve and Jeff, daughter-in-law Debbie, a granddaughter Emily, her brother Gary, and several cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
A visitation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home – South (441 Battlefield) on Thursday, August 15th from 6-8 p.m. A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday August 16th with Pastor Matt Taylor officiating. Internment is at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield.
